New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: The perceptions and assumptions related to the further hike in the basic pay of the Central government employees under the 7th Pay Commission is likely to come to an end with the government reportedly mulling to take a final call on the demands of the employees in April this year.
Meanwhile, reports are there that the government is planning to increase the basic pay of the Central government employees by raising the fitment factor 3 times.

However, the employees have been demanding to hike the fitment factor 3.68 times from the existing 2.57 times. The employees are currently getting Rs 18,000 which they want the government to increase to Rs 26,000.
However, the employees believe if the government will increase the fitment factor by 3 times, it will neither serve the purpose nor will it have any impact on their financial position.
“It’s enough now. We don’t want to discuss on the issue any more. The government has been intentionally lingering the issue. We will come up with our next course of action only after the further hike in the basic pay comes into effect,” said an Indian Railways employee.

The government had earlier promised to hike the pay only after the Dearness Allowance (DA) crosses 50 per cent with an aim to keep a balance between the salary of the Central government employee and the market price.

On the other hand, rumours are making rounds that the government is planning not to have any pay commission in future and to compensate that it may introduce a new an alternative system where the salaries and allowances of the Central government employees would be increased every year instead of once in a period of 10 years.
